The mission of the Alma District Fire Department is to enhance the quality of living in our community by preventing or minimizing injury and loss of life or property resulting from fire or other emergency, natural or human caused, that may occur within the jurisdictional boundaries of the Alma Fire District. Our goals are: Prevent and reduce fire risks through public education, code enforcement and inspection programs; minimize injury or the loss of life and property when fire or other emergencies occur; confine and extinguish hostile fires; and provide these protections at acceptable and effective costs within available resources.
The Department is responsible for 140 square miles, including the City of Alma, and parts of Pine River, Arcada, Sumner and Seville townships. The Fire District employs 20 part time firefighters. Our roster includes:
