The Engineering and GIS Department primary responsibilities include the design of improvement projects, preparation of plans and specifications, contract administration, and field inspection of various construction projects. Additionaly, feasibility studies are performed on proposed projects, including the compilation of engineering data and other items such as traffic counts. The Engineering and GIS Department issues permits which control work performed within the public right-of-way, connections to municipal utilities and sets standards to be followed when working within the public right-of-way.


 

 

Invitation for Bids

2010 Capital Improvement Program

 

Sealed bids will be received by the City of Alma at the municipal office at 525 E. Superior St., PO Box 278, Alma, Michigan 48801-0278, until 3:00 p.m. EDT, July 20, 2010 at which time and place all bids will be publicly opened and read for:

 

2010 Capital Improvement Program, which includes street reconstruction and restoration consisting of approximately

1,300 tons of asphalt paving;

442 linear feet of concrete curb and gutter;

14,750 square feet of concrete sidewalk and driveway approach construction;

920 linear feet of 8 inch diameter fused and bored water main construction;

and miscellaneous associated earthwork and storm sewer construction.

 

Specifications and general provisions upon which the bid is to be based can be obtained upon receipt of a non-refundable fee of $30.00 at the office of the Public Services Director, 525 E. Superior St., Alma, Michigan, 48801.  Include $20.00 additional for shipping and handling.  Drawing and Specifications are also available below and may be downloaded.  Please contact the Dave Ringle so that your company name can appear on the plan holder's list.

 

Each bid must be accompanied by a bid deposit consisting of a cashiers or certified check or a bid bond by a recognized surety equal in amount to three percent (3%) of the total amount of the bid and shall be payable on its face to the order of the City of Alma.

 

The City of Alma reserves the right to reject any or all bids, or any part of same, to waive any irregularities or informalities, and to make the award in part or entirety as may appear to the City Commission to be in the best interest of the City of Alma.
