The City of Alma began using BS&A Software for maintenance of cemetery records in late 2018. With the new software, much more information is readily available in a public search, the information is current, and it is much easier to understand. We are still working to update information as we transition from the old software to the new software. If you have information that you believe should be added to our records, please email copies of valid documentation to email@example.com.
The City of Alma does not store vital records. If you are looking for a death, marriage or birth record for an event that occurred in Alma, please contact the Gratiot County Clerk at (989) 875-5215.
Access to public records for Alma’s Riverside Cemetery can be reached through the link below. You will be redirected to BS&A Online. Choose the “Cemetery Management Search” link on the left side in the Services section. In the search line, choose the search By: Name option.
The Riverside Cemetery is divided into blocks, lots, and then plots. Lots are subdivisions of blocks, and plots are individual graves. Riverside Cemetery allows up to two burials in each grave, provided one of them is a cremains burial.
Some lots are divided by halves. These lots have an indicator at the end of the lot number. E for East half, W for West half, N for North half, S for South half. For example, if a plot is named as BLKC-0004E-0002, it would be the East half of Lot 4, Block C, Grave number 2.
Note: Riverside Cemetery was privately owned until sometime in the 1940s when ownership was changed to the City of Alma. Records prior to the 1940s may be incomplete.
