Legacy Assessing Services Letter Reappraisal of Real Properties

The City of Alma has retained Legacy Assessing Services to do a complete reappraisal of all real properties in the City, which are residential, commercial, and industrial.

You may have already received a letter, with a questionnaire, in the mail from Legacy Assessing Services. Your first thought may be to treat it as junk mail. Please donít throw it away. A reappraisalís main purpose is to create and maintain fair and accurate assessments. Accurate assessments, including accurate record cards are always to the benefit of the property owner. Assessors are frequently asked to provide record card information to assist in a property owner obtaining a mortgage, a realtor listing, or to assist in public safety issues. To learn more on the Reappraisal process and procedures follow this link.

As the City Assessor, I can assure you that this reappraisal is to the benefit of all property owners. As stated above, the State Tax Commission minimum requirements, based on a random sample, is 90% accuracy. The City of Alma wants to strive for 100% accuracy on a complete listing of all properties. Please assist us with achieving that by cooperating with Legacy Assessing Services by allowing measurements and photos of your property and completing the questionnaire.

I assure you that I will be monitoring the reappraisal and my priority is quality work and the comfort of the Cityís residents. I trust Legacy Assessing Services will treat all the city residents with professionalism and respect.

Please contact the Assessorís office at 989-463-9514 or if you have any questions or concerns regarding this reappraisal. You may also view your property information on the City of Alma website at
